Delighted Customer's Comments about BlackStar Barrel Accurizing

redmbline

I recently put a BlackStar barrel on my AR-15 service rifle. Very, very nice barrel. I surprised and / or annoyed several bolt gunners at the range...

Thanks for making a very uniform barrel with excellent accuracy and performance.

I have a .223 BlackStar. They did the installation and there's was a small problem with the crown when I opened the package. They paid for my gunsmith to fix it -- no questions asked. BlackStar is a FIRST CLASS company in my opinion. I have done business with them since and will do so again.

Dear BlackStar,

My AR15 with your 8 twist barrel shot a number of fantastic groups today, ranging from .285"-.310".

The range conditions were tricky. Since it was pretty hot there was some mirage, and the wind was blowing some. I shot my best groups in a steady right to left, when the flags were calm the mirage was so bad (straight boil) I couldn't really tell where to aim.

I just want to thank you for selling me such a good barrel. It appears to me that you give everybody the "good stuff".

Thanks a Million!

   Dear BlackStar:

I have had such fantastic luck with my BlackStar Accurized Ruger
No. 1 that I am now adamant about having ALL of my new rifles
micro-polished by BlackStar.  The Ruger (in .25-06 Remington)
shoots my favorite varmint bullet into ½ MOA groups all day, and
my favorite deer load averages ¾ MOA.  I also greatly appreciate
the ease of cleaning, especially with a high velocity cartridge like
the .25-06.  With moly coated projectiles, I only find a faint hint of
copper after 20 rounds, with velocity at 3650 feet per second.  This
   is a drastic improvement.

Enclosed is the barrel and receiver from my Weatherby Accumark,
chambered for the .300 Weatherby Magnum, which I would like to
have BlackStar Accurized.  I can hardly wait to receive my newest
BlackStar Accurized barrel and start shooting tiny little groups!

   Thanks,

   Dear BlackStar:

What a great job you did on my .338 Winchester and my .454 Casull
revolver!  I tell people that whether you're shooting a high stakes
match, a leopard or a trophy buck, BlackStar will improve your
group accuracy and consistency at least 35 percent.  And fouling is
simply gone.  For example, after 50 rounds, I found NO leading in
my Casull. It can virtually turn your factory barrel into a custom
barrel.  Even the best match barrel benefit, and I would recommend
   BlackStar every time!

BlackStar really does accomplish what its advertising claims to do.  In
fact, after having several barrels accurized by BlackStar, I knew that
they were doing a very good thing for accuracy.  I was so impressed
that I sent my own favorite .280 Ackley to BlackStar for their magic,
and I recommend their work to all my customers.

I'm impressed with the BlackStar Accurizing process and the
BlackStar people.  They're exploring new ground in rifle accuracy,
and making significant discoveries along the way.  Their
contributions to accuracy and ease of cleaning are already of major
importance, and I happen to believe that they've only just begun!

   Dear BlackStar:

Put me on your list of satisfied customers.  The BlackStar treatment
is a definite boon to accuracy and is a must for the serious
handgun hunter.  Ruger sixguns, cast bullets and the BlackStar
Barrel Accurizing process are a winning team.  After more than 100
rounds, I can tell you that my old Super Black Hawk shoots better
than it ever has.  Thanks for your kindness.

years.  We will continue to use and recommend your BlackStar
Barrel Accurizing process because it does what it claims.  Better

In forty years of military and sport shooting experience, I have
never seen a process or product that conveys the benefits
attributable to BlackStar Barrel Accurizing.  The BlackStar
Accurized bore demonstrates dramatic improvements in accuracy
and fouling, and offers the prospect of lengthened barrel life.
Every hunting rifle in my battery will be enhanced by this
   innovative process.

   Dear BlackStar:

Thank you for your superb response to my request for assistance
with the Winchester M70 barrel.  Your quick turnaround on a barrel
accurizing job enabled my client to take his rifle on a long-planned
safari.  It was an exceptional demonstration of BlackStar's
commitment to customer satisfaction.  Thank you for your concern,
your no-excuses willingness to help and for helping me to correct
the problem with the barrel.  I am most appreciative.

   Dear BlackStar:

Just a quick note to express my delight in how your BlackStar
Barrel Accurizing system has worked on one of my rifles.  I have a
custom varmint rifle in .22-250 caliber that, at best, got groups equal
to one inch at 100 yards.  After your BlackStar Accurizing and with
the exact same factory ammunition, the first five groups I shot were
less than one-half inch.  An added bonus to the improvement in
accuracy was the ease with which the barrel can now be cleaned.
The smoothness of the bore allowed me to remove the copper and
powder foulings with half the number of patches.  BlackStar has
made a true believer of me.

   Dear BlackStar:

After 478 rounds, my barrel has shown NO signs of fouling.  Cleaning
has consisted of wet patches and a bronze bristle brush.  I cannot
recall having a barrel that was as easy to clean as this barrel.

   Dear BlackStar:

The re-barreled 1900 Swedish Mauser that you BlackStar Accurized
for me has tested out to be a real shooter.  After you finished with it,
it shoots cluster groups of .40" X .55".  Now, that's what I was
hoping for originally.  Also, I appreciate the good job and your
responsiveness to my calls.  There is always some uncertainty when
sending a rifle into the unknown and having to hope for the best.
There is a Model 70 Winchester on the way now for one of your
   special barrels.

I admit that at first I was a skeptic about BlackStar Accurizing rifle
barrels.  But after trying it, the results have been fantastic. Cleaning
time has been cut in half and accuracy is excellent.

Your ability to blueprint and polish a barrel is nothing short of
amazing.  BlackStar Barrel Accurizing delivers a significant and

   Dear BlackStar:

I wanted to tell you how pleased I am with the BlackStar Accurizing
job that you performed on my 7mm Mag Ruger No. 1 custom rifle.  It
significantly improved its accuracy and cleanability, and I suspect
that I will uncover other advantages as well.  The smoother bore
made it much easier to clean and has resulted in higher levels of
   velocity as well.

   Dear BlackStar:

It is readily apparent that BlackStar is a revolutionary advance in
the improvement of firearm bore performance.  It is without doubt
that a barrel will benefit significantly from BlackStar, particularly
in the areas of accuracy, fouling reduction and cleanability.  In my
long experience with firearms, BlackStar is the only existing
firearms technology to successfully deliver four major benefits
simultaneously: improved accuracy, reduced fouling, reduced
   pressures and improved velocities.

The 6mm, 8 twist AccuMax barrel I'm shooting now has averaged less than 6" for ten matches at 1,000 yards. Three of these groups were under 4", with the smallest being a 3.8" group that was shot in North Carolina on September 20, 1997 under some very windy conditions. Whatever BlackStar is doing, they're headed in the right direction. I'll be shooting BlackStar AccuMax and AccuMax II barrels in 1998.

My customers have had very good success with BlackStar barrels in 1,000 yard competition.  In my opinion, they are equal in accuracy and performance to anyone else's barrels that I have used, and they seem to clean up easier.  I have installed quite a few of the AccuMax II barrels now, and we have become good friends.  In fact, I am starting the 1998 1,000-yard season with a 6mm AccuMax II, and I am looking forward to a very successful year.

After my new AccuMax II Palma barrel was fitted to my rifle by John Knight, I zeroed it and then shot 49.9v each at 300 and 600 yards having wound out the two inners seeing wind that was not there! I held ¼ minute elevation and I can only say how delighted I am with this finebarrel. I shall be taking the rifle with the new AccuMax II barrel to the matches in Zimbabwe and South Africa. Once again, many thanks for your fine work.

I have chambered and fitted quite a few BlackStar AccuMax II barrels during the past seven or eight months, mostly in .17 through .30 caliber. My customers have been very pleased with their performance.  Several customers in California with .17 barrels have called to report groups in the low and mid .100s.
Given the number of these barrels that I fit up each month, I have worked to find the best way to thread and chamber the BlackStar steel.  As my customers know, I am a real perfectionist about my threads. After increasing the lathe's speed during threading, my threads are now firstclass in every way. I'd say that they look like ground glass, and they are every bit as good as the threads I put on 416R stainless barrels.

A lot of people have asked me about what it's like to chamber BlackStar's new steel barrels. From the beginning, I have not had much problem with that operation, and my chambers and throats are nice. I also have not had any real problems with reamer life, as I use mainly cobalt and carbide reamers.  I am very satisfied with the results that my customers are getting from these barrels, and I am pleased with the quality of BlackStar's steel.  I feel they've done a good job.

At first, I was a skeptic about BlackStar. But then, in 1997, I started shooting an AccuMax II in registered 1,000-yard competition at Williamsport. To make a long story short, I finished in the Top Five in the Grand Aggregate, and shooting a BlackStar barrel definitely helped to put me there.  As a competitor and a gunsmith, I have found BlackStar's AccuMax II barrels to be very consistent and very competitive barrels. In addition to being a real shooter, the throat on my personal AccuMax II barrel looks almost new after more than 750 rounds of .308 Baer. By comparison, there would usually be a lot of erosion and cracking in a 416R barrel by this point. Based on what I'm seeing now, I estimate that a 1,000-yard competitor that shoots the AccuMax II will be able to virtually double his competitive barrel life, and that is a BIG deal. There's another thing I want to mention. I have found that BlackStar is one of   the few companies in the firearms business that really listens to their customers. This is not just my experience, but that of many other people I know. BlackStar is always asking questions and looking for suggestions on how to make their barrels even better. And if I have a question, they take it seriously and get me an answer. This is rare in my experience, and it is one reason why I like to deal with them.

These are some of the reasons why I shoot a BlackStar AccuMax II barrel.
Many of my usual customers shoot them as well, and more and more new
customers are asking for the AccuMax II. The question is, why don't you?

I did not know much about BlackStar when Stan Ellis asked me to machine an
AccuMax barrel for him. Noting the superior accuracy of his rifle, I began to use the new .224 caliber, 8 twist BlackStar AccuMax II barrels on our customers' rifles. Customers have reported excellent accuracy, resistance to fouling and extreme ease of cleaning. Throat erosion has been negligible compared to barrels made from conventional barrel steels. The improved metallurgy and virtual absence of sulfur in this steel is certain to result in greatly extended barrel life.

You know the famous "shot-out spotter" advertisement that BlackStar has run in various magazines? Well, I happened to be the coach for Stan Ellis that day, and I saw how well that barrel performed. I was so excited that I called Frank White at Compass Lake right away. He put a BlackStar Barrel on one of my AR-15 rifles, and does it ever shoot. We're talking quarter-inch groups. What's more, the throat erosion is less than one fourth of what it is in my other match barrels. The BlackStar Barrel is a great barrel, and I am proud to say that I'll be shooting BlackStar's fine barrels in 1998.

I've had a BlackStar Barrel in 6PPC for about a year and like it very much. It is very
competitive, and I've done some winning with it since taking it to the line last summer. The internal finish is beautiful, and Jim Borden told me that it was one of the straightest barrels that he has ever chambered. BlackStar makes one of the very best barrels in the business, and I have found that those who have actually shot a BlackStar Barrel have a very high opinion of them.

I've had great success with both the BlackStar bore treatment and the BlackStar Barrels. The BlackStar barrel has been everything that I was hoping for. I have shot consistently in the teens, and I've only cleaned once after 400 rounds. If you are going to spend money on a match barrel and want  it to last, BlackStar, in my opinion, is the way to go.
